Senior Process Engineering Manager

Location: Charleston, IL

Lead Engineering. Drive Continuous Improvement. Shape the Future of Manufacturing.

We’re looking for a Senior Process Engineering Manager to lead the technical and process engineering function at our Charleston, Illinois manufacturing facility. This highly visible leadership position is responsible for manufacturing process optimization, automation, continuous improvement, capital projects, and technical team development. You’ll work alongside plant leadership to improve safety, quality, productivity, and profitability while helping shape the long‑term technical strategy of the facility. If you’re passionate about Lean Manufacturing, capital improvements, and leading teams through meaningful change, this is an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the site’s Process Engineering, Technical, and Automation functions while developing a high‑performing engineering team.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, quality, throughput, delivery performance, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve reliability, and increase productivity using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Drive process capability improvements through PFMEA, process validation, risk assessments, and statistical analysis.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including Control Plans, Standard Work Instructions, and process control procedures.
  • Lead root‑cause investigations using structured problem‑solving methodologies including 8D, 5‑Why, and other data‑driven tools.
  • Analyze production metrics, scrap, customer feedback, and quality trends to implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Partner with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Finance to improve plant performance.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts to ensure successful launches with robust manufacturing processes.
  • Identify automation opportunities and equipment improvements that increase plant capacity and operational performance.
  • Develop capital equipment plans, prepare business cases, and manage projects from concept through installation and production startup.
  • Manage equipment suppliers, contractors, and project timelines to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Use manufacturing data and KPIs to prioritize improvement initiatives and drive measurable business results.
  • Foster a culture centered on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and employee development.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Five or more years of manufacturing process engineering experience.
  • Previous leadership experience managing engineering or technical teams.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and capital equipment projects.
Preferred Experience
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • PFMEA, Control Plans, and Design for Manufacturability
  • Capital project management
  • Blueprint reading and GD&T
  • Manufacturing process validation
  • AutoCAD, Power BI, and Microsoft Office
