We are looking for you to join our team as a Manager of Process Engineering 2 based in Rolling Meadows, IL.
In this role, you will lead a team of Manufacturing Process Engineers responsible for supporting the fabrication of Integrated Microwave Assemblies (IMAs) in our microelectronics manufacturing facility. These IMAs are primarily deployed within the Radio Frequency (RF) Electronic Warfare (EW) systems produced in Rolling Meadow. This position is based out of Rolling Meadows, Illinois and requires 100 percent in the office.
As a Manager you will be responsible for seamless coordination and collaboration with your team and other NGC organizations to ensure Northrop Grumman's continued success in producing Integrated Microwave Assemblies.
This Process Engineering team is responsible for all aspects of the microelectronics manufacturing process development, documentation, validation and continuous improvement. Additionally, this team is responsible for proposal preparation, capacity monitoring/forecasting, capital equipment planning and implementation as well as failure analysis and corrective action of production IMAs.
These IMAs operate, typically, between S to Ka bands and are primarily assembled with Alumina or Saphire ceramic substrates and discrete components interconnected with 0.001-inch diameter Au wire via a thermosonic bonding process. Other production processes utilized include laser welding of Ti or Al, plasma cleaning, chemical cleaning, epoxy bonding, ribbon and wedge bonding, component pick-and-place, leak testing, alternate die attach systems including epoxy and solder, and photolithography. These exacting processes require a high level of process control and are performed within an ISO Class 8 clean room.
A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience with the following:
  • Leading in a high visibility role
  • Managing or leading multiple simultaneous technical and programmatic challenges
  • Project & Financial (Earned Value) Management
  • Electronic Warfare technology and system operation domain knowledge
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate both verbally and in writing. Excellence in presenting to executive leaders, peers and other functions as well as all levels throughout their own organization.
  • Developing and maintaining a Continuous Improvement culture. Demonstrating a commitment to improvement across products and processes. Emphasizing the importance of the DMAIC process and data driven decision making to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • This individual will have very strong leadership skills to set and champion objectives as well as guide the methods and approach of the team.
  • This individual will be able to thrive in a dynamic and demanding (technically, programmatically) environment.

Basic Qualifications for the Manager Process Engineering 2:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Chemical or closely related Engineering field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience; OR MS degree in same fields with a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing or design.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Project, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience reading and understanding product drawings and specifications
  • The ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications for the Manager Process Engineering 2:
  • Prior experience in a management or leadership position for a technical team.
  • Experience in microelectronics manufacturing or design engineering.
  • Experience with processes employed during microelectronic manufacturing.
  • Project & Financial (Earned Value) Management experience.
  • Training and certification of Lean Manufacturing concepts and Six Sigma (DMAIC) tools.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience with MIL-STD-883
  • Experience with ISO9001/AS9100

Primary Level Salary Range: $127,100.00 - $190,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
