Engineering Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and driving all activities of personnel engaged in engineering and repair activities to meet productivity, quality, financial, and safety targets.  Serves as a member of Management and works collaboratively with the Management team to achieve business objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

   Directly supervise employees in the Engineering Department. 
   Carry out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. 
   Responsible for Interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
   Direct and supervise all engineering projects and the work assignments of engineering department responsible for engineering activities for hot stamping, blanking, shot blasting, laser cutting and various secondary processes.
   Assigns appropriate level of responsibilities for both the repair and the maintenance of facility support and production equipment. 
   Focuses on understanding customers objectives, determining "best practice" manufacturing and feasibility, estimating/quoting activities within corporate objectives, identify equipment needs to senior management. 
   Provide management and support over program management; pre-production and SOP, oversee effective implementation of engineering changes while ensuring financial P/L over all tooling, changes, as well as verification quoted standard is being achieved. 
   Continually improve procedures and equipment for safety, quality, and productivity. Drive reductions/elimination of non-value added activities, scrap, and other wastes using the formal tools of Lean and CI. 
   Participates in the creation and support of systems, designs, documentation and actions to assure conformance to Gestamp Safety requirements, Quality Systems (TS16949) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001).
   Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized, Lockout/Tagout procedures are adhered to, PPE is worn correctly at all times, and reporting of any near-misses, injuries, or accidents occurs immediately. 
   Keep work area clean and orderly to prevent safety hazards. 
   Assure adherence to quality policies and procedures including acceptable work standards, customer specifications and IPI requirements, to also include participation in the creation and support of systems, documentation and actions to ensure continued conformance to Quality (IATF) and Environmental (ISO) management systems.
   Observe and follow company policies and maintain proper standards of conduct at all times. 
   All other duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization's Values.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

   Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline required; MS or MBA preferred. 
   At least 5 years' experience in Automotive Manufacturing environment required. 
   At least 3 years' experience leading a team within a manufacturing environment required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

   Experience in other manufacturing disciplines preferred (ie. MFG operations, Materials, Quality)
   Deep knowledge Hot stamping, sheet metal, tool and die, robotic welding, material handling, laser cutting, shot blasting and furnaces, and the like. 
   Launch and quoting experience.
