Job description

Position Summary:

Technical specialist for stamping process. Coordinate, monitor, and perform specialized processes/related functions in an automotive manufacturing environment directly related to stamping process engineering. Job requirements include the analysis and improvement of current production processes and coordination of new model and tooling launches.

Essential Functions:
  • Serve as technical expert of assigned area during new vehicle and/or tooling launches.
  • Recommend methods for improving utilization of press automation system, auto-palletizing system, auto storage, panel Assembly Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS), and Auto Guided Vehicle (AGV).
  • Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product.
  • Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts to promote efficient utilization.
  • Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and to make recommendations to maintenance personnel.
  • Provide technical direction/assistance to identify, troubleshoot problems, purpose countermeasures/solutions and resolve issues.
  • Participate in Cross Functional Teams (CFT) and other problem solving teams as directed by senior management.
  • Serve as a technical expert for Team Members, Team Leaders, and Group Leaders including technical training, as required.
  • Continually review technical developments in area of responsibility and propose new technology projects as appropriate.
  • Investigate project feasibility, scope, and schedule; create process plans, bid packages, and project specifications.
  • Report current projects, progress, and issues to senior management. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality tracking reports and analysis. Prepare presentations and reports as required.
  • Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements. Team Member may be required to handle hazardous wastes which may include identifying, inspecting, packaging, labelling, and moving waste in compliance with RCRA regulations. Relevant training will be provided if assigned these job duties.
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned. 
Education:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field required or equivalent desired

Related Experience:

0 - 10 years job related experience preferred
