Job description

Job Title: New Process Development Engineer

Location: Cincinnati, OH

Client: Medical Equipment Manufacturing
 

About the Role:

We are seeking a hands-on Process Development Engineer to join a fast-growing medical device company in Cincinnati. This role will be embedded within the production engineering team and focus on optimizing manufacturing operations, improving yields, and reducing scrap. The position requires direct involvement in process improvement initiatives and engineering-driven solutions on existing manufacturing lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support process improvement initiatives, with an emphasis on scrap reduction and yield improvement.
  • Partner with Production Engineering to troubleshoot complex line issues requiring in-depth engineering analysis.
  • Perform root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to address process inefficiencies.
  • Conduct process characterization to understand variability and optimize performance.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and help stabilize production during periods of limited internal resources.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Biomedical, or related Engineering field.
  • Proven experience in process development engineering within the medical device industry.
  • Experience with complex device assemblies (multi-component systems, ~20+ parts) is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end medical device assembly processes.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing and assembly techniques, including:
  1. Ultrasonic welding
  2. Laser welding
  3. UV adhesive bonding
  4. Press fits
  5. Functional testing in controlled environments
  • Experience with process characterization.
  • Working knowledge of equipment and process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and ability to collaborate effectively with validation teams. (This is not a Validation Engineer role.)
