Job description

As our next Controls Technician, you will serve as a liaison for projects involving new instrumentation and controls. Youโ€™ll develop and make changes to PLC controls, provide training to others, maintain related documentation for these projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable for all PLC, drive, instrumentation, and electrical installations. Programs and troubleshoots any instrumentation, control, or electrical issue.
  • Develop and review procedures and provides training for others to handle routine PLC control or electrical issues during normal hours. Provides off-shift troubleshooting if necessary.
  • Develop and execute changes to PLC controls where necessary working with line engineers and maintenance technicians.
  • Demonstrate versatile knowledge in technical aspects of test equipment, including multimeters, megohmmeters, oscilloscopes and power analyzers.
  • Maintain and update the documentation (both electronic and hard copies) for the electrical and PLC controls for each process, including drawings, diagrams, manuals, installation disks, CDs, and any other pertinent information. Follow a controlled PLC change system to track changes.
  • Conduct and maintain the necessary contacts for ensuring that PLC controls and equipment are current and that the necessary spare parts are available.
  • Support engineering projects for new equipment evaluations, installations, and startups where PLC controls and/or electrical equipment are being used.
  • Participate in additional duties as required by the supervisor.
  • Promote safety programs designed to assure safe working conditions and eliminate workplace accidents. Be a visible participant in the site safety program such as NFPA-70E and NEC.

EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone with high school diploma (or GED) and varying degrees fo experience as an industrial electrician or controls technician. If you have worked as an electrician or maintenance technician, we want to hear from you!

  • Controls Technician I: 0 - 1 yearsโ€™ experience and technical skills and troubleshooting ability required for PLC controls and electrical equipment. In addition, demonstrated aptitude for troubleshooting and understanding basic electrical concepts.
    • The ability to wear requisite PPE and lift 50 lbs.
  • Controls Technician II: 4+ yearsโ€™ experience as an industrial electrician or controls technician and technical skills and troubleshooting ability required for PLC controls and electrical equipment.
    • The ability to wear requisite PPE and lift 50 lbs.
  • Controls Technician III: 8+ yearsโ€™ experience as an industrial electrician or controls technician and technical skills and troubleshooting ability required for PLC controls and electrical equipment. Associateโ€™s Degree preferred.
    • The ability to wear requisite PPE and lift 50 lbs.

SALARY

  • Controls Technician I: Compensation Range: $27 - $33 per hour.
  • Controls Technician II: Compensation Range: $30 - $37 per hour.
  • Controls Technician III: Compensation Range: $35 - $42 per hour.

The salary range provided serves as a general guideline for potential compensation for this position. It reflects the base salary and does not account for other benefits or additional compensation opportunities that may apply. This role is also eligible for further compensation through an annual/sales bonus, in addition to the base salary.
