As an electrical controls technician, you work on a wide variety of equipment and devices within a facility. Your responsibilities are to install and repair electrical systems, calibrate equipment, and inspect designs for quality control. You may also troubleshoot wiring issues or install switchgears. Other duties include drawing diagrams of the system, observing site conditions that affect the design, and reporting your findings to site managers. Your plans revolve around the circuitry of the electrical system. This often requires you to make rough sketches or prototypes before the final installation. You may also make parts for your builds, such as coils and terminal boards.
