Job Summary

Richmond Community School District, serving more than 4,700 students across 11 schools and 3 Head Start locations, is seeking an energetic, hands-on Assistant Director of Dining Services who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being actively involved in daily operations. Working closely with the Director of Dining Services and Office Manager, this leader will help oversee district-wide food service operations, assist with menu planning through MenuWorks, support catering services, and help implement and promote Chartwells programs. The role also provides leadership and support to a team of up to 63 frontline associates, helping ensure an exceptional dining experience for students while maintaining operational excellence across all locations.

The ideal candidate is a well-rounded food service professional who understands how a kitchen operates, leads by example, and enjoys building strong relationships with staff, students, and district partners. We're looking for a true team player and self-starter who is patient, adaptable, and motivated to find solutions and continuously improve. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Director and Frontline team in creating nutritious and top quality food.
  • Implements new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with the client.
  • Manages, trains, and develops associates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of food service supervisory or lead experience.
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Financial experience and business acumen skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.
  • Associate’s degree is preferred.
