Job description

  • Position Summary
    • The Pre-Registration Representative is responsible for the accurate and efficient pre-registration of scheduled elective patients by gathering and recording the patient demographic and insurance data in the computer system, preparing an estimate of the patient liability, explaining the estimate the patient and collecting and documenting patient liabilities. The Pre-Registration Representative is also responsible for ensuring scheduled uninsured patients are properly cleared for services.

    • High School Diploma/ GED - Preferred
  • Experience
    • 1-2 Years Registration experience in hospital, medical office or insurance setting - Preferred
    • 1-2 Years Knowledge of health insurance benefits - Preferred
  • License & Certification
    • None Required
  • Core Job Functions
    • Meets department production standards. Meets department quality standards
    • Selects the correct insurance/payer mnemonic/code in the computer per established guidelines. Scans insurance cards and verifies legibility. Completes insurance and subscriber fields completely and correctly.
    • Reviews eligibility and benefit information already obtained to determine patient responsibility amounts. Verifies insurance coverage and benefits when not already present. Explains coverage to patient and collects amounts due.
    • Excellent customer service and understands the functions to assist patient in resolution of account.
