Description


The IT System Administrator Intern supports enterprise IT operations across a hybrid environment consisting of Microsoft Azure cloud services and on-premises infrastructure. This internship provides hands-on experience in system administration, networking, and cybersecurity practices within a CMMC Level 2-compliant organization. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist in administering Windows Server systems and Azure resources. 
  • Support troubleshooting of networks, switches, firewalls, and connectivity issues under supervision. 
  • Monitor system performance, updates, patch cycles, and compliance reporting. 
  • Help maintain IT documentation, diagrams, and configuration baselines. 
  • Support enforcement of CMMC Level 2 controls (MFA, auditing, logging, vulnerability management). 
  • Assist with user account provisioning, access troubleshooting, and secure system configuration. 

Requirements


  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, routing). 
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems. 
  • Interest in cloud technologies, especially Microsoft Azure. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented processes. 
  • Ability to operate within a defense-contractor environment following strict security guidelines. 


Preferred Skills 


  • Exposure to Linux operating systems. 
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Azure administration tools. 
  • Experience with scripting languages or automation tools.Â
