Job description

Talis Groupโ€™s client is a well-established and highly respected east end law firm, with a collaborative team environment. The Paralegal will assist attorney(s) in a family law practice; document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, and fact checking; and trial preparation. This position is on-site. Paid time off, health insurance reimbursement, life insurance and 401k matching available.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, be part of a successful and growing team of professionals and to show off your family law paralegal experience. This position requires a solid and experienced understanding of family law practices.

Highlighted Duties:

  • Assist with screening of prospective clients and gathering intake information at new client meetings.
  • Responsible for opening cases for new clients and working case until final phase.
  • Manage firm calendar.
  • Effectively handle a family law case from the initial retention through conclusion.
  • Drafting and preparing all required pleadings, correspondence, and other documents for family law cases, including Dissolution of marriage; paternity; post-judgment actions (modification, contempt, enforcement); domestic violence injunctions; relocations; and all other family law related pleadings.
  • Extensive preparation of Financial Affidavits, Mandatory Disclosures, and all other discovery requests and responses.
  • Trial preparation.
  • Preparation of family law calculations.
  • Coordination of hearings, conferences, mediations, depositions, and other proceedings.

Highlighted Requirements:
  • Must have previous family law paralegal experience.
  • Paralegal degree or certification desired.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy needed to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to reassure and calm clients while explaining the process to them.
  • An understanding of child support guidelines, and spousal support guidelines.
