What you will do
This role will partner with the SVP, HR & Corporate Affairs to develop and implement a comprehensive internal and external communications strategy that engages employees and supports the company's business objectives. This includes creating and delivering financial, safety, HR and sustainability messages across a variety of media channels.
This role will collaborate with both corporate and mill teams to ensure communication materials and tactics are effective for diverse employee audiences. This role will also oversee external communications, including managing social media and the company website, developing public relations and marketing materials, and contributing to the annual Sustainability Report. Throughout all work, ensure consistent messaging and adherence to company brand standards for all stakeholders.
Internal communications and Business Support
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to support the business and engage employees.
  • Partner with colleagues across the organization to identify key messages, determine timing, and select the most effective communication channels.
  • Manage all corporate internal communications including editing, publishing, and distributing print, digital, and online content such as leadership messages, newsletters, and email announcements.
  • Edit and review various documents and communications to ensure effective, consistent and concise use of language to convey corporate messaging.
  • Provide tool kits (talking points, presentations, flyers, newsletter articles) to mill managers and HR leaders
  • Oversee quality, accuracy and usability of the Company's SharePoint site.
  • Collaborate with HR on employee value proposition and talent acquisition materials, annual benefits enrolment and other HR initiatives.
  • Support mill communications and collaborate with mill HR staff to develop communications strategies that are effective with hourly employees.

External Communications
  • Develop and implement an external communications strategy aligned with company goals.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, EHS, and other departments to identify opportunities and craft compelling stories for key external audiences including customers, operating communities, media, and government officials.
  • Manage the company's social media presence. preparing and scheduling content that aligns with corporate communication strategy and policy.
  • Monitor social media performance, trach reach and engagement metrics and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate routine updates to the company website, coordinating with a third-party agency to implement changes.
  • Support the creation of public relations materials, including press releases, presentations, and other external communications.
  • Assist with government affairs activities in states where the company operates.
  • Contribute to the development and production of the annual Sustainability Report.

Can also proofread and revise own and others' work to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  • Can present effectively and confidently in various situations, such as at mill meetings, corporate events and in webinars. Can adapt your tone, style, and language to suit the audience and context.
  • Can collect, analyze, and interpret data related to communication activities and outcomes. Can also use tools such as Google Analytics or SurveyMonkey to track and measure key performance indicators, such as reach, engagement and satisfaction. Can also use data to inform communication decisions and optimize communication strategies,
  • Can effectively manage multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines
  • Adept at collaborating with colleagues at all levels of the company, from hourly workers at the mills to the CEO

What you will needTo be successful in this position, we are looking for candidates with the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, English, or another closely related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate communications
  • Has experience with graphic design and is able to create vivid iconography for social media, emails and the web and can design newsletter layouts. Also, can partner with professional designers to create effective brochures, presentations, newsletters for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience creating diverse materials for communication to audiences.
  • Broad knowledge of public relations practices and principles
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word and PowerPoint
  • Fluency with APA format and formal business writing
  • Familiarity with both Teams and SharePoint
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook etc. in a corporate communications context
  • Intermediate knowledge of manufacturing industries
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and communicate multiple issues simultaneously
  • Office environment, using computer keyboards and viewing computer monitors for long periods of time
  • Must wear personal protective equipment when in the manufacturing environment
