About the Client Yorktown Search Partners has been exclusively retained to recruit an MLBPA-certified agent on behalf of our client, a global legal-first sports agency integrating elite athlete representation, contract negotiation, endorsements, and cross-border wealth structuring.

The firm’s Major League Baseball (MLB) division is strategically headquartered in Miami, serving as a gateway between U.S. baseball and Latin American talent pipelines. This role will lead talent acquisition and contract negotiations across MLB, MiLB, and the international free agent (IFA) market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Athlete Recruitment & Development
  • Sign MLB prospects, MiLB players, and international free agents
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with MLB scouts, front offices, and development academies in Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Contract Negotiation
  • Negotiate MLB, MiLB, and arbitration-level player contracts
  • Work closely with internal legal counsel for compliance, arbitration filings, and dispute resolution
  • Endorsements & Sponsorships
  • Secure brand deals across equipment, apparel, media, and lifestyle categories
  • Partner with internal branding and PR teams to elevate player visibility and marketing appeal
  • International Markets
  • Oversee international free agent signings and transitions into U.S. representation
  • Build pipelines from Caribbean and Latin American development programs
  • Cross-Border Advisory
  • Navigate tax, visa, and residency issues for Latin American athletes entering MLB systems

Qualifications

  • MLBPA Certification (Required)
  • 3+ years of experience representing MLB or MiLB athletes or negotiating baseball contracts
  • Demonstrated success in player signings or arbitration settlements
  • Deep relationships within MLB front offices, scouting departments, and Latin American academies
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred

Compensation & Structure

  • Commissions: Up to 5% of player contracts (MLBPA standard)
  • Endorsements: 10-20% commission on sponsorships
  • Equity Track: Early-stage equity participation in the client’s IPO-bound multi-sport expansion
