We are currently looking for a Plate Mounter to join our team. The Plate Mounter role is responsible for affixing plates to cylinders in accordance with job ticket specifications at our flexographic label plant.

Responsibilities:
  • Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to read job tickets carefully before operating equipment to ensure customer specifications are met
  • Ability to easily use a computer to view production schedule; ability to recognize like jobs or scheduling improvement opportunities to support business efficiencies
  • Regular, quick movement throughout the facility and work area to mount plants for upcoming jobs
  • Gathers necessary cylinders, tools, and tint sleeves per job ticket instructions
  • Pulls plates from the envelope to verify condition and number of plates
  • Cuts plates to the proper length according to scale
  • Verifies proper sticky back to use according to the plate negatives envelope
  • Mounts plates according to job ticket instructions
  • Stage job orders on the counter according to the specified press and in order of the current schedule
  • Make plates when necessary
  • Pulls plates from the central file. Organization, tracking, and cleanliness of the area and plate file are required.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of machinery and organization of the workspace; light maintenance of machinery and slitting blades may also be required
  • Participation in department meetings, process improvement events, training, and safety program as scheduled
  • Responsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned
  • Related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Printshop experience helpful, but not required
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with others (verbally and in written form); seen as a team player
  • Ability to read and understand a job ticket
  • Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (able to pass a ruler test)
  • Ability correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test)
  • Ability to differentiate colors (able to pass a color test)
  • Ability to input data into the computer
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions
  • Ability to stand and move around the press area for long periods of time
  • The physical demands require standing, using hands to feel and touch; reaching with arms and hands; talking and hearing. This position requires frequent walking.
  • Occasionally, an employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
