The salary range for this position is $30.00 to $37.00 per hour based on relevant experience and shift.
First Shift open is from 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Second Shift open is from 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM.
Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace Processing, New York (West Babylon) has an exciting new opportunity for a Plater Position. The successful incumbent will work under the supervision of the certified Chemical processing Lead and perform surface finishing/enhancing procedures such as cadmium plating, embrittlement relief bake, chromate, and processing in accordance with route card instruction, internal procedures and customer specifications. The Plater is responsible for safely working in a chemical environment with all safety equipment and safe guards.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Performs Electroplating (Cadmium) operations per instructions and industry standard.
  • Coordinate with other departments to maintain a steady work flow.
  • Perform inspection on plated/chromated parts to ensure correct dimensions and quality.
  • Contribute to the wiring, racking, and baking of parts as required.
  • Contribute to 6S and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Verify all internal procedures and customer requirements are followed and met, including accurately inputting data onto Route Card.
  • Maintain the work area in a clean, safe and hazard free manner.
  • Track supplies and ask Supervisor to order in a timely manner and maintain an accurate list of materials and supplies for ordering purposes.
  • Train and certify for Chemical processes as necessary.

Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industrial cadmium plating experience with high volume and high quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents written in English.
  • Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires that the employee must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident).
  • Spanish would be a plus.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly, and 100 lbs. on occasion.
