Artazn has secured new business opportunities and is excited to offer direct hiring opportunities for production operators. To qualify, you must certify to operate a forklift, be willing to work 8 or 12-hour shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Job Purpose/Scope:
Responsible for start- To start up, maintain and shutdown plating line to full operation, using Standard Operating Procedures, optimizing plating efficiencies and quality of blanks.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
1. Must monitor and maintain the plating line and process, including but not limited to solution levels, temperatures, voltage, amperage, feed pumps, pressure gauges, agitation and pumps, metering flow and other process controls.
2. Must ascertain that all mechanical and electrical functions are operating correctly (i.e., worm gears, shoe alignment, cathode rails).
3. Make chemical additions; make-up chemical process tanks including cleaners, pre-dips, and plating solutions as per ISO work instructions and lab recommendations.
4. Perform specific maintenance functions including but not limited to changing, emptying, and refilling anode baskets as required; cleaning plating line tanks and exhaust ducts; transferring solutions; changing anode cables and baskets; cleaning washer nozzles; and handling waste.
5. Make up KCN mix and brightener day feed tanks.
6. Relieve plater helper position for breaks and lunch as needed.
7. Make up Pennwalt and maintain feed rate as per ISO work instructions.
8. Must set up special coinage production runs (i.e., uncirculated, proofs, Singapore's)
9. Must maintain a safe and clean work area.
10. Changes and maintains filters as per ISO work instructions.
11. Segregates waste materials for proper waste treatment.
12. Performs hydrogen peroxide and carbon treatments of plating solutions as required.
13. Incorporates problem solving techniques regarding problems and improvements in plating quality, operating efficiencies, process control, etc. and communicates these ideas to supervision.
14. Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, of others, or to property. Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
15. Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
16. Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
17. Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation, and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
18. Primary Emergency Responder
The employee will be responsible for completing all emergency response tasks as directed by either the Department Supervision or the Emergency Coordinator. These tasks include, but are not limited to, assessing, stopping, and repairing minor chlorine leaks. All first responder actions to be taken will be within the scope of training received by the employee.
The employee will be successfully fit tested in the use of company supplied respiratory protection equipment unless medically disqualified by the company physician. This equipment will consist of air purifying respirators and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) equipment.
The requirement to wear respiratory protective equipment during an emergency response situation requires that the employee be, always, free of any facial hair that would interfere with the fit of the equipment being used.
19. Starts, operates, and shuts down Inside & Outside Waste Treatment, including emergency shutdowns
20. Identify chemicals used in waste treatment process, re-stock as required
21. Does daily checks on the waste treatment process
22. Cleans sand beds, clarifies, and presses as needed
23. Performs all other duties as assigned
Secondary Functions
Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
• Knowledge
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience
One-year industrial experience preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Skills
Must be able, within the probationary period, to fulfill the responsibilities for starting up, maintaining, and shutting down the plating line as per assigned work Instructions.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs is preferred.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Skills to drive forklift as required.
Ability to use standard repair tools including but not limited to hammers, wrenches, sockets, nippers, tin snips, drills, and disc grinders.
Ability to properly use a calibrated caliper and micrometer.
