Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Pension Plan Manager to help with the administration and strategic management of our client's pension plans. In this vital role, you will oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing compliance of pension programs, ensuring they meet regulatory standards while aligning with the Fund's goals. Your expertise in HR systems, benefits administration, and regulatory reporting will drive the success of our client's retirement offerings. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence participants' retirement benefits positively while maintaining good customer relations with our clients and meeting rigorous legal and financial standards.

Duties

  • Manage the end-to-end administration of pension plans, including plan design, compliance, and communication with stakeholders (Benefit Managers, Fund Attorneys, etc.).
  • Follow Taft-Hartley, ERISA and IRS guidelines.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to review contracts and ensure pension plan is administered according to plan documents.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel to ensure plan administration meets legal standards.
  • Attend client meetings online and in person.
  • Assist with regular audits of pension data for accuracy and compliance to help prepare regulatory reports for agencies such as the Department of Labor or IRS.
  • Provide guidance on benefits administration related to pensions, health insurance knowledge, and other employee benefits programs.
  • Support participant orientation sessions regarding retirement options and conduct training on pension plan features.
  • Handle confidential information with utmost discretion while communicating complex pension details clearly to clients.
  • Stay updated on changes in pension field and relevant regulations such as HIPAA or Medicare requirements affecting pension plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or related field OR equivalent experience in the benefits field; advanced certifications preferred.
  • Proven experience managing pension plans or retirement benefits.
  • Familiarity with Taft-Hartley, employment & labor law, HR legal compliance, ERISA regulations, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Excellent data analysis skills to interpret complex pension data and generate actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Exceptional communication skills to explain technical pension concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining high levels of professionalism.
  • Strong negotiation skills for vendor management related to HR systems support or external pension consultants.
