  • Oversee and direct crisis management functions at the assigned site, including incident response, law enforcement and emergency services coordination, customer communication, after-action review, and debriefing.


Job description

We are looking for a Senior Physical Security Manager. As a Senior Physical Security Manager, you'll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world's best quantum computers to solve the world's most complex problems. 

In this role, you will lead Physical Security for a rapidly growing global technology company. You will work with our Security Team, Facilities Team, Customers, and Stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of our customers, employees, visitors, and intellectual property. This role in a multinational company involves developing, implementing, and managing global security protocols to protect personnel, facilities, and assets across multiple locations. Key responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, managing security technology (CCTV, access control), coordinating emergency responses, and ensuring compliance with international standards. 


Responsibilities:

  • Day to day physical security operations of US Facilities 
  • Responsible for all scheduling, administration, reporting, incident response, training, human resources concerns for the assigned site on a 24/7/365 basis.
  • Serve as a direct IonQ representative to guard staff and customer executives.
  • Directly responsible for the site's contract compliance with all elements of customer statements of work, service level agreements, and quality assurance.
  • Develop an efficient guard schedule and anticipate resource requirements to proactively initiate hiring activities.
  • Assist IonQ corporate with timekeeping and invoicing support being a designated point of contact for onsite details.
  • Assist IonQ leadership in providing strategic direction and direct guidance to operations and subordinates to manage activities and issue resolution, including physical security, safety, and business continuity events.
  • Contribute to the execution of screening, hiring, development activities, and retention of contract security personnel.
  • Ensure staffing coverage and responsibility alignment for the assigned site, team, and shift.
  • Oversee and direct crisis management functions at the assigned Site, including command and control of incident response post-orders, law enforcement and emergency services coordination, customer communication, after-action review, and debriefing.
  • Enforce IonQ policies and standards of conduct.
  • Must be available by phone or email after hours and on weekends. 
  • Must be able to travel to IonQ locations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
  • Oversee the Envoy visitor program 


You'd be a good fit with: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Risks, or related field AND 8+ years experience in Security Program or Program Management 
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or equivalent Protection certification, Physical Security Professional (PSP), or equivalent Physical Security Certification. 
  • Direct experience in the engineering, design and/or installation of enterprise security systems in datacenters or other critical infrastructure environments is highly desirable 


You'd be a great fit with: 

  • Experience building SCIFs
  • Prior military or law enforcement experience in physical security
  • Experience project management planning

Location: This is an on-site role located at our College Park, MD facility. 
Travel: Up to 30% Domestic. Occasional international travel may be required

The approximate base salary range for this position is $110,336 - $144,459. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.
