Job description

Safety & Security Associate - Part Time

Shifts are - 1st (7am - 3pm - $20/hr), 2nd (3pm - 11pm - $21.50/hr) and 3rd (11pm - 7am - $23/hr)

Uniforms provided.  All Full-Time Associates receive full benefits and Part-Time Associates receive tiered benefits.

The Part Time Associate will be on call to assist with weekend shifts, events, holidays, etc.

Summary

This entry level position helps enforce the physical security policy for National Life Group. This includes surveillance of our premises, protection of staff, tenants, and visitors, detecting suspicious happenings, and preventing vandalism, thefts, or other criminal behavior. The position performs security operations during one of three shifts, which are typically 8 hours in length but may differ depending on need and available resources. Team members may be expected to work nights, weekends, and holidays to fulfill the needs of the Company. Work is performed under the supervision of the Safety & Security Shift Supervisor, and under the general direction of the Safety & Security Shift Lead and the Facilities Operations and Safety Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Expected to respond in the event of a fire, medical, or environmental emergency.
  • Helps enforce the parking program for Vermont campus locations.
  • Informs people on campus about physical safety and security policy and procedures.
  • Secures premises by patrolling property and monitoring surveillance equipment and access points.
  • Processes visitors and greets guests to campus.
  • Investigates security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior.
  • May control traffic by directing drivers.
  • Prepares draft reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
  • Monitors building environment and reports irregularities and problems to shift supervisor.
  • Capable of promoting an effective culture of safety and security for the enterprise.
  • Behavioral - Self-motivated, team player, follows guidelines, treats others with respect. Holds self and others accountable.  Communicates effectively.  Manages conflict appropriately.

 

Requirements

  • Some physical security experience or law enforcement or emergency management, preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified or be able to achieve certification within 3 months.
  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Valid driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Entry level knowledge of physical security programs within a corporate environment.
  • Adequate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adequate interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Entry level knowledge of physical security.
  • Entry level knowledge of security electronics and technology.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 4 hours.
  • Must be able to stay alert at all times.
  • Must be able to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to respond to Vermont campus in under 1 hour when "on call".
