Performing Arts Manager
Reports To: Principal
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Performing Arts Manager to oversee all aspects of our performing arts facilities and productions. The ideal candidate will coordinate scheduling, technical operations, and support for school and community events, ensuring that our performing arts spaces are safe, welcoming, and fully functional. This position requires a flexible schedule, including the ability to work nights and weekends during performances and special events.
 



Salary Range

  • $65,000$75,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Manage all aspects of the auditorium and related performing arts spaces, including setup, technical preparation, and maintenance of sound, lighting, and stage equipment.
  • Schedule and coordinate use of the performing arts facilities for school, district, and community events, maintaining a master calendar and responding to inquiries about facility use.
  • Provide technical support and training for students, staff, and outside groups in the safe and effective use of theater equipment.
  • Oversee the design and construction of sets, lighting, and sound for school productions and events.
  • Train and supervise student stage crew and ushers, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.
  • Assist with the marketing of performances and events, including the creation of posters, playbills, and promotional materials.
  • Maintain all equipment and facilities in good working order, coordinating repairs, preventive maintenance, and compliance with safety codes.
  • Participate in budget planning and monitor expenditures related to performing arts operations.
  • Collaborate with administration to establish and update procedures and policies for facility use.
  • Chaperone students during special events and performances as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the performing arts program


Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in theater/arts management or a related field preferred; equivalent experience in facility or production management may be considered
  • One to three years of experience in technical theater, facility management, or event production is desired.
  • Strong technical skills in sound, lighting, and stage management; ability to train others in safe equipment use.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and community members.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, to support performances and events.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform duties requiring physical activity such as climbing ladders and adjusting equipment.
  • Criminal background check required upon hire; CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Working Conditions

  •  Requires frequent walking, standing, and sitting; must be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment; requires the ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions; may require occasional evening or weekend hours for school  events or emergencies
