Job description

The Short of It
We're looking for a senior performance marketer with experience leading execution across most core channels of the modern marketing stack (email, content, SEO, paid media, and/or HubSpot & RevOps), paired with strong client-facing experience and team management skills. This role is ideal for someone who wants to deepen their ability to lead delivery, manage clients, and coordinate teams while driving measurable results. We're looking for a doer with leadership potential.
Overview
Looking for a role where you can lead delivery, not just support it?
At ProperExpression, our Performance Marketing Strategists are execution leaders, not meeting runners. This role sits at the center of client delivery - translating strategy into action, leading project managers and specialists, and owning the quality, results, and momentum of client work. It's a senior, client-facing delivery role for marketers who understand how modern marketing works in the real world.
If you enjoy working directly with clients, coordinating complex marketing programs, and holding work to a high bar across channels - we would be delighted to meet you!
About ProperExpression
ProperExpression is a fully-remote boutique growth marketing agency focused on the B2B SaaS and Financial Services industries. We partner with ambitious clients to build predictable, scalable growth engines across channels, including SEO, content, paid media, email, and RevOps.
We are a HubSpot Platinum Partner and have been recognized by Clutch and Excellence.com as a top-performing agency. Despite being a relatively young agency, we're growing quickly and intentionally, and building the next phase of the firm with people who want real ownership, real impact, and room to grow.
We also laugh a lot, don't take ourselves too seriously and try to make any excuse to eat good food - sharing food experiences has become a bit of an internal culture with life of its own.
The Role (What You'll Actually Do)
As a Performance Marketing Strategist, you will lead account teams made up of channel specialists (PPC, SEO, creative, copy, web dev etc.) and project managers to deliver results and ROI for our clients.
You will be expected to:
  • Collaborate on strategy with the Account Director and own execution
  • Lead day-to-day client delivery and communication
  • Ensure work is executed at a high standard across channels
  • Coordinate internal project managers and channel specialists to ensure nothing slips
  • Monitor performance and proactively surface insights, risks, and opportunities
  • Be accountable for client results, retention, and delivery quality

Key Objectives
Success in this role is based on the following factors, in order of importance:
  1. Client retention: Retain clients by consistently delivering value, earning trust, and maintaining momentum.
  2. Client results: Drive measurable results through high-quality execution and ongoing optimization.
  3. Productivity: Deliver work efficiently by managing scope, team utilization and your own time.

Who This Role Is For
This role is ideal for a mid-career agency marketer who:
  • Has deep hands-on marketing experience across multiple channels
  • Enjoys managing ongoing client relationships
  • Is highly organized and delivery-oriented
  • Is comfortable leading client meetings and explaining results
  • Can coordinate complex workstreams without micromanagement
  • Wants to grow into an Account Director or VP-level role over time

You enjoy being "at the tip of the spear" on accounts - close to the work, close to the client, and accountable for outcomes.
Job Requirements
Location & Work Setup
  • Fully remote
  • Must be located in the US or Canada
  • Must be willing to work EST hours full-time

Experience
  • 6+ years of professional marketing experience
  • Proven experience managing ongoing client relationships at a marketing agency
  • Experience overseeing multi-channel marketing programs
  • Project management experience (formal or informal)

Marketing Stack Experience
You must have:
  • Expert-level experience in at least one of the following
  • Hands-on intermediate or higher experience in at least three
  • Familiarity with all, with no more than 1-2, with zero experience

Marketing areas:
  • Email & Marketing Automation
  • Content Marketing
  • SEO
  • Paid Search
  • Paid Social (LinkedIn and/or Meta)
  • HubSpot and/or RevOps

You will be expected to:
  • Discuss these channels confidently with clients
  • Interface intelligently with channel specialists
  • Assign work and evaluate quality
  • Explain performance and tradeoffs

Soft Skills & Attributes
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Proactive and responsive
  • Strong written and verbal communicator
  • Problem-solver with a "figure it out" mentality
  • Comfortable managing ambiguity
  • Resilient and determined
  • Motivated to challenge themselves and continuously learn

Benefits
  • Health Insurance
  • Dental Insurance

  • 401K
