Job description

About Caliber

Caliber is a fast-growing, social-first media company built for the way people actually consume news and culture today. Our portfolio spans distinct editorial brands - TNM (The News Movement), The Recount, and Capsule; alongside The Caliber Collective, our in-house creative studio for commercial clients, and SaySo, our owned creator platform.Together, our brands reach more than 100 million people a month across social.

We're looking for a Performance Marketing Lead to sit at the center of that ecosystem: part strategist, part tactician, working across our editorial brands and with The Caliber Collective's commercial clients to make sure everything we publish and produce actually moves engagement, community, and ubiquity.

The Role

You've spent the last several years becoming an excellent tactician; you know your way around every ad manager, every algorithm change, every format shift. Now we want you to make the leap from just executing campaigns to shaping them: advising brand owners and client teams on what to make, where to place it and how to read the results, before and after it goes live.

This is a hybrid role by design - equal parts paid placement and creative strategy. You'll work directly with our editorial brand owners on content that builds community and reach, and with The Caliber Collective's account teams on campaigns for commercial clients. The through-line is counsel: brand owners and clients alike should come to you not just for execution, but for a point of view on how a campaign will play out and why.

Our Platforms & Brands

You'll need a working understanding of everything under the Caliber umbrella:

TNM (The News Movement):Our Gen Z-focused, social-first news brand. TNM meets young audiences directly in their feeds with vertical video rather than steering them to a website - rigorous journalism built natively for social.

The Recount:Our politics brand where "everything is politics," told with clarity, context, and a casual tone instead of outrage. It publishes natively across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, and X.

Capsule:Our lifestyle and culture brand, tracking trends, entertainment, and the internet's current conversation for a younger, social-native audience.

SaySo:Caliber's flagship owned app live now on iOS in the U.S. and Canada and U.K. (launched this summer). SaySo delivers curated short-form news from vetted creators and journalists, built around a personalized Daily Digest instead of infinite scroll, with sourcing baked into every video to rebuild trust. You'll help shape how our brands and campaigns show up on it as it expands.

The Caliber Collective

The Caliber Collective is Caliber's full-service, social-first creative studio - the commercial engine of Caliber. It works with brand clients, producing and placing content that draws on Caliber's own audience data, production capabilities, and social expertise.

In practice, the Collective sells social media expertise including paid partnership access to Caliber's own audiences, and bespoke content strategy that lives on a client's own channels. You will be a key point of counsel for that second piece, working directly with commercial clients to translate what we learn from running editorial brands at scale (what earns attention, what builds community, what survives an algorithm change) into advice on how to make their own campaigns more effective.

What You'll Do

  • Own performance strategy across paid placement and creative execution for Caliber's editorial brands and for The Caliber Collective's client campaigns.
  • Advise editorial brand owners on the media mix, formats, and timing most likely to drive engagement, community growth, and reach.
  • Work closely with the Audience team to align paid and organic strategy with community growth and retention goals.
  • Partner directly with Caliber Collective account teams and commercial clients, providing hands-on counsel on campaign strategy, mid-flight optimization, and post-campaign learnings. In addition, estimate performance and advise on minimum guarantees based on elements including benchmark costs (CPM, CPA, etc.), budgets and platform.
  • Maintain deep, current expertise in YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok algorithms and ad products (required), plus working knowledge of other emerging platforms.
  • Read platform and algorithm shifts early and translate them into practical recommendations - what to change, what to protect, what to test.
  • Build the campaign structures, trafficking frameworks and reporting that let brand owners and clients understand not just what happened in a campaign, but why - and what to do next.
  • Contribute to how Caliber's brands and the Collective's client work show up on SaySo as the platform develops

What you bring

  • 4-6 years in performance marketing, with a demonstrated shift from hands-on tactical execution toward strategic counsel and campaign leadership.
  • Deep, current, hands-on experience with YouTube, Instagram, Substack and TikTok is a must; familiarity with other platforms (Meta, Snap, Pinterest, X, etc.) is a plus. We're looking for someone who can navigate the interplay between paid and organic strategy.
  • Demonstrated range across the funnel, from brand and community-building work to direct-response campaigns measured on CPM/CPA
  • A track record of working across paid placement and creative development - you can plan a media buy and shape the creative that goes into it.
  • Hands-on fluency with the technical side of the job: ad manager platforms (Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads Manager, YouTube/Google Ads), analytics and attribution tools (GA4 and social-native analytics suites), and building out campaign dashboards and reporting.
  • Comfort advising both internal editorial stakeholders and external commercial clients, with the judgment to tailor counsel to each.
  • A strong point of view on how campaigns will perform before they launch, and the analytical rigor to explain how they actually performed once they do.
  • Experience in building out automated reporting frameworks to scale insights and communicate return on investment
  • Experience working across multiple brands or portfolios simultaneously, balancing distinct audiences and voices.
  • Experience in both brand and performance campaigns, with past performance in driving users into app experiences.
  • Agency experience is a strong plus.

What's in it for you?

  • 90% company contribution towards healthcare
  • $5,000 towards fertility treatment after a years service
  • 5 months paid family leave
  • 24 days PTO
  • 1 week work from anywhere
  • 2 weeks additional leave (unpaid) if requested and approved
  • Unlimited sick
  • Multiple discounts across retail and healthcare
  • In office events
