Job description

Rivers Health is seeking a per-diem Radiology Extern.

Under the direction of the Medical Imaging Supervisor, is responsible for the transporting of patients by bed, stretcher, or wheelchair to/from the Radiology Department, provide assistance to Medical Imaging Professionals, and perform clerical duties as needed.

  • The Radiology Extern/Tech Assistant is allowed to provide assistance, at the direction of the Licensed Medical Imaging Technologist.
  • Independently assist with transport of patients to and from the Radiology Department.
  • Assist with moving patients onto and off imaging equipment with direct supervision.
  • Drive portable X-Ray units to and from the Radiology Department with direct supervision.
  • Assist with documentation in the EMR with direct supervision.
  • Independently clean and prepare imaging suites for the next patient.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation after BLS certification.
  • Independently guide/walk patients to and from imaging suites.
  • Effectively communicates in a positive way with patients, employees both inside and outside of the department.
  • Assist Technologists in preparing and maintaining appropriate records and charges for patients.
