Primary Duties and Responsibilities

UCLA-Santa Monica Rape Treatment Center (RTC) is a specialty clinic that provides trauma informed acute forensic medical care for victims of sexual assault/abuse. The Per Diem NP will provide on-call clinic coverage to ensure sexual assault/abuse medical forensic examinations are available 24 hours a day. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: direct patient care services, providing sexual assault/abuse forensic medical examinations, coordination of medical and follow up care, and crisis intervention; assisting RTC NP Supervisors with Clinic operations, and facilitating collaboration with hospital departments and community agencies (Law Enforcement, District Attorneys, crime labs, etc.). The NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate "standardized procedures" (SPs). By using the SPs the NP is able to change the treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior, and physical condition, and determines if they are abnormal findings (Ca Nursing Practice Act, subsection (b) of Section 2725). This is a Per Diem on-call position.
Minimum requirements include: 1 night/week and one weekend/month (approx. 90hrs/month), plus holiday coverage. There is an approximate 30-minute response time to the clinic. This role is in Santa Monica, CA. Salary: $98.95/hour plus shift differential, On-Call $18/hour.

  • CA RN License and California NP License-required
  • 2 year NP experience -required
  • No previous forensic-medical experience required. Comprehensive training provided.
  • State of CA NP Furnishing with Schedule II
  • MSN/DNP in an NP (FNP, Peds, Adult/Gero NP, Women's Health) specialty-required
  • National Board Certification as an NP-required
  • BLS certification from AHA or ARC- required
  • NPI #, DEA #, Enrollment in CURES
  • 30-minute response time to the clinic- required
  • Ability to utilize Excel, Word and other software programs - required
  • Skill in working independently and following through with minimum direction - required Ability to set priorities - required
  • Demonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed and grammatically correct correspondence - required
  • Document patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner - required

As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.
