OVERVIEW: The Manager, People Operations is responsible for leading enterprise-wide transformation initiatives that shape and elevate the MarineMax team member experience. This role drives the evolution of People processes, systems, and operating models—from transactional, manual administration to a digitally enabled, insight-driven, and strategically aligned function.

This leader oversees the design and deployment of People technologies, HRIS optimization, workforce analytics, and scalable operational processes that support engagement, productivity, and retention. Through cross-functional partnership, the Manager ensures that People systems and tools align with business objectives while humanizing processes that impact team members across their lifecycle.

Done well, this role positions People Operations as a strategic business enabler—leveraging data, automation, and technology to empower leaders and support organizational growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

People Operations Strategy & Transformation

  • Lead the transformation of People Operations from administrative service delivery to a strategic, technology-enabled function.
  • Develop and execute a multi-year People Operations roadmap aligned to MarineMax business priorities.
  • Champion a digital-first culture that modernizes how team members interact with People systems and services.
  • Humanize operational processes to enhance engagement, development, and retention.

HRIS & People Technology Leadership

  • Own the optimization and long-term strategy of MarineMax HRIS and People technology ecosystem.
  • Lead HRIS implementations, upgrades, integrations, and enhancements.
  • Drive system utilization with a focus on:
    • Mobility and anytime access
    • Team member and manager self-service
    • Unified reporting and dashboards
    • Workflow automation
  • Partner with the Technology Team and vendors to ensure system performance, security, and scalability.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging People technologies to support organizational effectiveness. 

Digital Process Automation

  • Design and implement automated workflows across core People processes including:
    • Recruiting & onboarding
    • Performance management
    • Compensation & pay changes
    • Engagement & retention
  • Transition manual processes into efficient, digital experiences.
  • Establish governance and standardization across locations and business units. 

People Data, Analytics & Insights

  • Build and operationalize MarineMax’s People Analytics capability.
  • Create and deploy enterprise people dashboards across the team member lifecycle in partnership with the MarineMax business intelligence teams.
  • Surface real-time workforce insights to support leadership decision making.
  • Connect people data to business and financial outcomes such as productivity, revenue, and retention.

Project & Portfolio Management

  • Develop and manage the annual People Operations project roadmap.
  • Lead enterprise initiatives such as:
    • HRIS implementations
    • System consolidations
    • Process redesign
    • Digital experience rollouts
    • Establish project governance, timelines, and success metrics.
    • Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of People initiatives.

Change Management & Adoption

  • Lead change strategies tied to system and process transformations.
  • Drive communication, training, and adoption plans.
  • Partner with Learning & Development to deploy system training.
  • Monitor adoption metrics and user experience feedback.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, Analytics, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications such as PMP a plus.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in People Operations, HRIS, Analytics, or HR Transformation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise system implementations. Hands-on experience with Paycor a plus.
  • Proven track record driving operational and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience building or leading People Analytics functions preferred.
  • Understanding of human resources and people strategy, and a track record of influencing positive change in organizations
  • Strong leadership experience, including building and scaling teams.
  • Strong project management track record with the ability to juggle multiple priorities while delivering results
  • Deep experience in building and implementing processes and systems.
  • Strength in creating cross-functional partnerships.
  • A growth mindset with a penchant for collaboration and teamwork.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to tell stories, to influence, and to drive decision making.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills
