Position Summary:

Responsible for negotiating, structuring, and/or administrating contractual documents that establish business relationships with vendors, customers and/or partners. Works with sales and service teams as well as the legal department to structure contracts. Analyzes contracts to ensure compliance to company policy, government specifications and other requirements.

*This is a full-time role, Monday through Friday, with an expectation of 2-3 in-office days per week and additional on-site presence as needed. The individual must reside in the San Diego, CA area and be able to commute to our offices.

Changes to individual responsibilities may occur due to business needs and other related duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for negotiating/reviewing contracts between Illumina and its customers.
  • Assist cross-functional teams with contract proposals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge about Illumina's sales and contracting processes.
  • Provide education and training to other members of the Contracts team with respect to Department processes and procedures.
  • Work with Analysts in other global regions to ensure continuity of processes (or to understand why regional differences may exist; work with the regions to establish and maintain best practices).
  • Works with other members of the Legal department to review/analyze contracts; build templates where appropriate and provide data administration services related to legal software tools.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Sales, Customer Service, Accounts Receivable, Revenue Recognition, etc.) to ensure that contract processes efficiently address business needs, company policies, and applicable legal requirements.
  • Represent the Commercial Legal team for company-wide projects affecting the sales contracting process, as appropriate.
  • Organize, attend, and document stakeholder meetings relating to the sales contracting process.
  • As the company's strategic goals shift, assist inter-departmental and cross-functional teams to identify gaps in procedures or customer-facing documentation, then propose revisions to templates as appropriate and implement streamlined processes.
  • As necessary, assist in the selection, design and implementation of software systems required by the Legal group to efficiently process requests for contracts; manage compliance and privacy reporting & otherwise support the software needs of the Legal group.
  • Where appropriate: Supervise and mentor Contracts Analysts and Senior Analysts; create performance goals for and conduct reviews of Analysts.

Requirements:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or equivalent experience.

  • Fully committed to the job and to deliver outstanding work.
  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.

The estimated base salary range for the Sr Staff Contracts Analyst (San Diego / Hybrid) role based in the United States of America is: $129,400 - $194,000. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. The range reflects longterm growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
