Job Overview

The Senior Director, PBM Agreements & Operations serves as the execution arm of PBM sales and the principal deal architect for ClearScript. Reporting to the President, ClearScript, this role is accountable for structuring, negotiating, and executing complex, multi party PBM agreements and for translating senior level business relationships and strategic intent into executable, operational outcomes.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy in ambiguous and fast-moving environments, this leader owns the lifecycle of PBM business development transactions—from early deal architecture through contract execution and operational handoff—while ensuring vendor accountability, internal enterprise readiness, and fulfillment of commercial commitments.

This role bridges strategy, sales, legal, finance, and operations to ensure PBM deals are structured correctly, negotiated effectively, and implemented successfully. The Senior Director operates as both deal strategist and execution leader, converting executive level discussions into detailed, defensible agreements and ensuring ClearScript and its PBM partners deliver against negotiated terms.

The position holds oversight accountability for vendor performance post signature, including ClearScript and subcontracted PBM vendors, and plays a critical role in escalation, governance, and continuous performance management.
Responsibilities

Translate high level commercial intent and relationship driven discussions into structured, executable deal terms, conditions, and contract execution. Design and negotiate complex commercial, pricing, and guarantee structures across PBM and multi party arrangements. Ensure all contractual commitments are operationally feasible, measurable, and enforceable.

Sales & RFP Leadership

  • Provide PBM RFP strategy and response positioning, building getting to yes for client-specific customization requests. Partner closely with Sales leadership to convert opportunities into executable agreements. Act as subject matter expert in client and prospect discussions, when needed, involving PBM contracting, economics, and risk structures.

Cross Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate cross functional deal execution with Sales, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Product teams. Partner with Finance on pricing models, rebate structures, guarantees, and financial risk assessment. Collaborate with Legal on contract language, governance frameworks, compliance, and risk mitigation.

Vendor & Partner Management

  • Own PBM vendor performance management post contract, including escalation management and issue resolution. Establish and monitor governance mechanisms to ensure vendors deliver against contractual commitments. Act as ClearScript’s senior point of accountability for PBM contract execution integrity.

Operational Readiness & Handoff

  • Ensure client, internal teams, and vendors are prepared for implementation prior to contract close. Drive a clean, disciplined handoff from contracting to operations, minimizing friction and execution risk. Identify and proactively resolve execution risks before they impact clients or financial outcomes.

Success Measures

  • PBM deals are structured accurately, defensibly, and executed without downstream operational rework. ClearScript consistently meets or exceeds negotiated pricing, guarantees, and service commitments. Strong alignment and accountability across Sales, Finance, Legal, Operations, and PBM vendors. PBM vendor performance issues are identified early and resolved decisively. Executive stakeholders view this role as a trusted advisor and execution leader. Implementation success feedback from clients is overwhelmingly positive, building referenceable clients connected to implementation.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate growth in an entrepreneurial business (ClearScript) within a larger, established enterprise (Fairview)
