Job description

This is a remote position.

Join our team at Next Level Strategies as a Payroll Consultant and manage diverse tasks for a variety of clients with the support of a knowledgeable team, bring your expertise to make a big impact!

Work Type: Part Time, Monday-Friday. Flexible schedule between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm PST daily, morning availability is required. (Part Time to start, potential to move to Full Time)

Location: Remote within CA to support our clients onsite when needed

Compensation: $50-$65hr Non-Exempt

Are you a detail-oriented Payroll Consultant with a passion for numbers and a knack for keeping things running smoothly? We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Consultant to join our team and ensure accurate, timely payroll for our clients.

In this role, your expertise across multiple payroll platforms, ability to manage employee timekeeping records with precision, and talent for keeping multiple balls in the air while maintaining excellent customer service, will make you successful at NLS. Advanced proficiency in Excel is essential, as you’ll rely on it for data reconciliation, reporting, and processing. Professionalism is a must, as you will serve as a trusted resource for our clients, handling sensitive information with care and accuracy. If you love variety and have excellent payroll skills, we want to hear from you!

A typical day at NLS can look like.. responding to payroll-related questions from employees at a variety of clients, interacting with 401k and benefit providers, independent focus time to complete payroll deadlines, pulling reports for a client’s accounting team, and so on. No two days are the same, and you love that!



Requirements

To be successful in the Payroll Consultant role, here is a little about you…

Proven experience (5 – 7 years minimum) managing multiple clients and processing numerous payrolls each week in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ideal if you’ve worked successfully in a consulting role in the past. We have found over time that consultants who are used to client work – with varied client personalities, industries, processes, and software, are the most successful.

Additional skillsets for success:

· A keen eye for detail and organization is one of your many superpowers.

· Ability to prioritize your workload in a proactive, organized way.

· A phenomenal communicator; Overcommunication? No.Such.Thing! You excel at both verbal and written communication.

· You are the Sherlock Holmes of payroll – naturally curious and a mystery solver. If there is an anomaly in the pay data, you notice it and track down the answer.

· Your attitude is one of your greatest assets! You are cool under pressure, experienced with handling client issues and last-minute changes with a smile.

· You have benefits, 401k reporting, and multi-state payroll experience.

· General accounting experience preferred/ journal entries

· Ownership of client deliverables, commitment to client satisfaction, understanding the importance of accurate and timely payrolls? Of course!

· Comfortable enough with California’s wage and hour compliance requirements to answer some compliance-related questions.

· Familiar with an array of software platforms such as, Paychex, Paylocity, Gusto and Rippling.

*** Emphasis on Paylocity and Rippling. Additional software such as Slack, Asana, Google Suite, MS Office, Ease (Mineral) are also helpful. We are a Mac shop and prefer comfortability with Mac technology.
