Physical Requirements
The physical requirements for this position include regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time with repetitive motion (such as typing); walking including pushing, pulling, and/or lifting up to 10lbs and occasional pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects up to 50lbs. The conditions of work may involve regular exposure to loud noises, intermittent exposure to blood borne/airborne pathogens and combative/violent people, and occasional exposure to cuts and punctures.
Shift
Monday - Friday, Day Shift; primarily 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (40 hrs/wk); holidays and weekends as needed
Job Summary
This position is located off-campus in Lexington, KY at UKHC Fountain Court. The Patient Relations Assistant is foundational to facilitating an engaging and positive patient experience.
The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: greeting patients, registration, insurance verification, cash handling, medical record preparation, scheduling appointments, procuring new patient records, communicating information with patients via the telephone and in person, and answering the telephone. This position supports efficient patient care and clinic initiatives to improve patient attendance and keep attendance records.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will have customer service experience and be able to communicate calmly and helpfully during stressful and/or crisis situations. Should be able to pay high attention to detail; work with a teamwork mindset; have data entry skills and respect for confidentiality; be able to prioritize tasks efficiently; and work in multiple systems simultaneously.
