Position Type: Contract potential for extension based on performance and department budget
Start Date: January 2026
Schedule: Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Patient Placement Coordinator to support patient throughput operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is responsible for coordinating patient admissions, transfers, and bed assignments while ensuring timely communication across clinical and administrative teams. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable working with confidential patient information.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate placement of admissions, transfers, and post-operative patients using bed planning software
  • Communicate bed status and patient flow updates to leadership and clinical teams
  • Collaborate with nursing, physician teams, transfer centers, and housekeeping to support efficient patient flow
  • Manage ICU and medical team patient assignments
  • Reconcile daily operating room schedules and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare daily reports on census and patient placement outcomes
  • Participate in problem-solving under tight timelines and limited bed availability
  • Provide coverage across shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays

Requirements
  • Experience:
  • 5 years of clinical or administrative support experience in a complex medical or office environment
  • OR 3 years of experience plus a Bachelor's degree
  • Strong multitasking, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems preferred
