Job description

Overview

Responsibilities
The Project Manager, Patient Access is responsible for assisting the Patient Access Manager/Director in overseeing the successful completion of projects related to Quality Assurance, Education Vendor Implementation throughout patient access within the organization. Acts as a liaison between the corporate patient access operations, vendor and system support teams, local leadership and front line staff. The Project Manager, Patient Access will assist with a variety of training, mentoring and support requests from local staff and leadership. They will provide consistent, relevant feedback to all staff regarding productivity and quality benchmarks through root cause analysis of registration related denials as needed. This position interacts with revenue cycle and operations staff, clinical leadership, information systems, external contacts, and vendors regarding patient access processes, policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
  1. Minimum Two (2) years of experience with an integrated healthcare information system. Extensive working knowledge of Insurance, Eligibility Verification, Payer Agreements, Pre-Certification, Authorization, and Notice of Admission requirements.
  2. Proven ability to provide valuable feed-back and/or training to front-line staff leaders, driving change in processes and improving overall performance of Patient Access staff.
  3. Excellent analytical skills and have experience seeing projects through the full life cycle.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective partnering relationships with clinical staff, revenue cycle personnel and management at facility, corporate, and remote entities.

Preferred qualifications:
  1. Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM).
  2. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent critical thinking skills.
  4. Working knowledge of insurance payment methodologies, insurance denials and appeals protocols.
  5. Ability to work independently in a time-oriented environment.
  6. Computer literacy and familiarity with the operation of basic office equipment.
  7. Assertive personality traits to facilitate ongoing physician communication.
  8. The analytical skills necessary to collect and analyze data, identify problems, research regulatory topics, interpret federal regulations, and develop meaningful recommendations.
  9. Possess the ability to work with minimum supervision, the ability to function in a stressful environment, the ability to encourage and assist with team building, excellent writing and verbal skills, and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information, both patient and employee.

Benefits may vary based on employment status, i.e. full-time, part-time, per diem or temporary. A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $70,304.00 to $103,480.00 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
