Job description

We're Hiring: Pathologist Assistant

University Health is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Pathologist Assistant to join our Anatomic Pathology team. In this critical role, you’ll support and lead daily operations in the grossing room, histology lab, and autopsy services—ensuring high standards in patient care, training, and lab excellence.


What You'll Do:

As a Pathologist Assistant, you’ll work under the supervision of Board-Certified Pathologists and:

  • Perform gross examination and descriptions of surgical pathology specimens

  • Provide technical and operational oversight for the Gross Room, Histology Lab, and Autopsy Service

  • Supervise and train Pathologist Assistants, grossing assistants, and residents on safe and proper lab procedures

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, equipment maintenance, and regulatory requirements

  • Participate in hiring decisions and assist in maintaining a high-performing team


What We're Looking For:
  • Undergraduate degree and Pathologist Assistant certification

  • Knowledge of Texas Administrative Code of Criminal Procedure related to grossing and autopsy processes

  • Experience in a diagnostic lab setting preferred

  • Bonus: Managerial or supervisory experience, and familiarity with clinical information systems
