Description:

As a Parts Person with Transwest you will be responsible for providing warehousing and delivery support. This includes receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, assembling and sorting of materials, filling orders from stock and cross docking, pulling packing and shipping orders, organizing, and retrieving stock, organizing, and managing to meet the facility’s productivity and quality goals in addition to the safe, secure and prompt transfer of products within your assigned area of responsibility. The Parts Person must be a good steward for Transwest, cross-sell departments, utilize and manage all company resources, meet departmental objectives, and be above reproach.


As a Parts Person, this individual will gain in-depth parts knowledge from working with Parts Experts and Service Technicians to fulfill parts orders and to develop heavy-duty, medium-duty, and trailer parts experience, as well as excellent customer service skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer telephones professionally and pleasantly.
  • Communicate often and timely with customers and associates.
  • Document customer quality issues as they arise and work with the team to resolve issues in a cost-effective and expeditious manner.
  • Drives sales through engagement of customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge.
  • Effectively communicate with customers any relevant policies and/or procedures regarding purchases, returns, credit terms, processes.
  • Effectively communicate with customers to ensure objective, ask pertinent open-ended questions and provide information to assist customers and ensure that we provide the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  • Follow-up on customer orders and resolve problems with the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Greet and receive customers in a welcoming and professional manner.
  • Maintain quality service by following organizational standards.
  • Provide elite customer service by assisting customers promptly and courteously with their inquiries and purchases and by efficiently processing their orders.
  • Provide troubleshooting support and service to customers experiencing problems in the field and selling repair parts as needed.
  • Respond to customer inquiries for parts sales via phone, email and other company approved methods of customer communication.
  • Knowledge of the local area.
  • Understand dealership credit policies.
  • Work closely with the management team to ensure procedures, rules, and regulations are followed.
  • Accommodate and safely manage equipment, materials, and fragile merchandise.
  • Assist with inventory control to continue accurate counts at all times.
  • Box, wrap, and pack outgoing merchandise in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Have a strong understanding of inventory workflow.
  • Label and stockpile merchandise in standard packs according to location, size, shape, and type.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping workstations, shelves, pallet area, and shipping supply area neat through continuous use of 5S principles.
  • Maintain familiarity with all inventory products and merchandising programs and ordering systems.
  • Maintain inventory controls by collecting stock location orders and printing requests.
  • Maintain lift trucks certification and basic knowledge of warehousing equipment as assigned.
  • Organize inbound and outbound orders in appropriate areas for service, delivery, or shipping.
  • Process requests and stock orders.
  • Pull and prepare orders for service, inter-company transfer or shipping.
  • Quarantine incoming materials for inspection.
  • Record and manage all impaired or damaged merchandise items.
  • Safely load, secure, unload and stage materials throughout the delivery process.
  • Tag and label merchandise in preparation of transfer.
  • Validate product receipt, record posting reference on packing slips, and post materials per approved process.
  • Welcome delivery trucks and ensure that they are at a safe and secure point for loading or unloading.
  • Must be a leader capable of motivating staff to succeed.
  • Complete reports by entering required information in inventory and logistics software programs.
  • Data entry and retrieval on computer systems, including entering of customer orders, branch transfers, obtaining quotation information, inventory information, pricing.
  • Process focused on recording departmental data, i.e., business matrix, lost sales.
  • Utilize company information systems to process orders timely and accurately.



Requirements:

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Ability to attend work on time and work as scheduled is crucial for maintaining productivity and professionalism in the workplace.
  • Requires the ability to work under stressful conditions or irregular hours.
  • Activities require a full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and fine dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to eighty (80) pounds.
  • The position may require standing, balancing, bending, or stooping for prolonged periods of time.
  • The position requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Comply with all governing and company procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Have a sense of urgency and the ability to instill that in others through clear goals, leading by example and communication.
  • Meticulous and detail oriented.
  • Four (4) years’ experience is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Manage expenses within policy for travel and entertainment.
  • Representing the company in professional manner by demonstrating respect, reliability, appropriate communication, and polished appearance in all workplace interactions
  • The ability to understand vague and implicit instructions is a crucial skill for various work situations, particularly in roles that require effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Ability to give, receive, and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials, and articulate goals and action plans.
  • Proficiently dealing with unexpected circumstances.
  • Resolve problems, manage conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure. They must have a long attention span to listen to people, perceive real problems, and bring issues to a successful conclusion.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
  • They must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people and may be frequently called upon to manage demanding situations.
  • Understand the importance of deadlines.
  • Understand the importance of efficiency in all daily activities.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicles and equipment with an ability to communicate all maintenance and safety concerns to the parts manager.
  • Valid Driver's License and an MVR in good standing.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
