Job description

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Established in 1970, Boley Centers, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization serving individuals with mental disabilities, individuals and families who are homeless, Veterans and youth in Pinellas County. Boley Centers, Inc., a nationally recognized and accredited behavioral health care agency, has an opening for a part-time Veteran Support Specialist.

SCHEDULE

Monday - Thursday, 12 pm - 5 pm

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist the Recovery Team with assessing strengths and needs of veterans in the program by directly observing/teaching skills.
  • Assist with recovery plans that seek to restore a veteranโ€™s functioning in key roles in life such as work, family and community.
  • Communicate veterans' needs to the Team and report unusual events, activities and incidents to supervisor or appropriate Team member.
  • Assist veterans to access resources in the community such as recreational activities, work, medical, dental, etc.
  • Mentor veterans in role recovery activities such as symptom management, relapse prevention, stress reduction and work readiness.
  • Directly transport and teach public transportation to veterans to support independence.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma/GED equivalency required.

Minimum of one year of responsible work experience, preferably involving interactions with veterans/military.

Knowledge of recovery model, counseling techniques, verbal crisis intervention and mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders preferred.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Valid Florida driver's license, own vehicle and proof of auto insurance required.

Must pass a Level 2 background check and drug screen.
