What You Will Teach
Students will receive instruction and guided practice in SAT/ACT-aligned reading, writing/language, and math skills, as well as test strategies such as pacing, question prioritization, process of elimination, and error analysis. Tutoring may include mini-lessons, timed practice sets, review of misconceptions, and strategies for different question types.

Major Topics Can Include

  • SAT/ACT test structure and timing strategies
  • Reading/English
  • Main idea, inference, and evidence-based reasoning

  • Rhetorical skills and author purpose (as applicable)
  • Grammar and usage (sentence structure, punctuation, verb tense, agreement)
  • Revision/editing skills (organization, transitions, clarity)
  • Math
  • Algebra and functions (equations, inequalities, graphs)
  • Problem-solving and data analysis (ratios, percentages, statistics basics)
  • Geometry and trigonometry fundamentals (as applicable)
  • Word problem translation, modeling, and strategy selection
  • Test-taking strategy
  • Pacing, skipping/returning, educated guessing
  • Process of elimination and trap answer recognition
  • Calculator vs. no-calculator efficiency (as relevant)
  • Error analysis routines and skill tracking

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide small-group or 1:1 SAT/ACT tutoring aligned to student needs and site expectations
  • Deliver structured sessions with clear objectives, guided practice, and strategic review
  • Use practice data and student work to identify gaps and target instruction
  • Facilitate timed practice sets and teach pacing and strategy routines
  • Track student progress through skill checklists and ongoing error analysis
  • Maintain a supportive, inclusive learning environment that builds confidence and persistence
  • Communicate professionally with site staff and Concorde program contacts regarding attendance and session completion tracking

  • Experience tutoring high school students in math and/or ELA (test prep experience strongly preferred)
