Job Description Summary
Residing within the Office of Enrollment Management, the Writer & Communication Specialist plays a critical role in guiding prospective students, parents, and college counselors through the college search journey.
This position combines strategic writing, digital content creation, and CRM management to enhance student recruitment and engagement efforts at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Working closely with the Strategic Marketing & Communications team, as well as cross-campus departments, the specialist will craft personalized, multi-channel communications that consistently showcase the Chapman University experience and opportunities for prospective students.
Responsibilities
Write, build and support communications within the university's Slate CRM.
  • Write, build, and deploy targeted communications within Slate CRM across multiple touchpoints, including email and text messaging campaigns, student-facing portals, event landing pages, and formal letters.
  • Ensure CRM communications adhere to accessibility best practices and guidelines, ensuring inclusive and equitable experiences for all prospective students.
  • Support email deliverability and contact data quality by executing targeted campaigns to re-engage contacts with bounced emails and invalid phone numbers.

Write and update content for digital platforms utilized by potential students, families and counselors.
  • Review, update, and optimize Chapman University's profile content on third-party college search platforms to ensure accurate and compelling institutional representation.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Marketing & Communications' social media team to develop and distribute social content that supports enrollment goals.
  • Maintain and update website content for pages managed by Enrollment Management to ensure current and accurate information for prospective students and families.

Develop content to support in-person and virtual events.
  • Draft presentations (virtual and in-person) for prospective students, families and college counselors.
  • Manage the storage and promotion of virtual event recordings.
  • Create content for digital signage used in the Visitor Center and for campus-wide events.

Required Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in a writing, marketing, or enrollment-focused role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated creativity and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Passion for enhancing the student experience and supporting enrollment goals.

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English, or a related field.
  • Experience creating content for digital platforms and social media.
  • Knowledge of higher education recruitment and enrollment processes.
