Description
The Slate CRM Technical Analyst supports the technical, functional, and workflow needs of Samford University's Slate CRM environments across multiple institutional areas, including but not limited to Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Admissions, Student Financial Services, and Advancement. This position resides in Technology Services and works closely with functional administrators to build queries and reports; support data integrations with Banner; and assist in the development and maintenance of portals, dashboards, events, forms, mailings, and campaign workflows. The role also assists with workflow and configuration implementation, maintains data quality across systems, and troubleshoots technical issues to ensure reliable and effective use of Slate for departmental operations.
Job Duties
  • Build, maintain, and optimize Slate queries, exports, reports, and dashboards to support operational and strategic needs across multiple institutional areas.
  • Develop and support portals, forms, events, landing pages, mailings, and campaign workflows based on requirements from functional departments.
  • Interpret business and functional requirements and translate them into technical query logic, reporting structures, user workflows, and data outputs within Slate.
  • Support integrations between Slate and Banner and other campus systems, including troubleshooting data discrepancies, monitoring data flows, and assisting with file-based and API-based processes that support One Stop and third-party applications (e.g., CAS platforms used by graduate programs).
  • Implement configuration changes within Slate environments, including fields, prompts, rules, workflows, populations, and other system objects.
  • Perform data imports, exports, validations, and cleanup processes to ensure accuracy and consistency across systems , applying strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Provide second-level technical troubleshooting for Slate-related issues, escalating as needed to IT leadership or Technolutions.
  • Support communication and portal development and maintenance, including email templates, SMS configurations, dynamic content, and portal layouts, leveraging Slate AI tools and applying HTML/CSS knowledge as needed.
  • Document configurations, processes, data flows, and queries; maintain up-to-date operational and technical documentation.
  • Serve as a collaborative technical partner across campus Slate teams by facilitating communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, promoting shared solutions and alignment of priorities among Admissions, Student Financial Services, Advancement, and other partners.
  • Provide training, guidance, and job aids for Slate users, and act as a consultative partner in exploring new ideas, enhancements, and effective long-term use of Slate across institutional areas.
  • Stay current with new Slate features, community best practices, and product releases; share updates and recommendations with campus partners.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Technolutions Slate or another CRM or enterprise data system in a technical, reporting, workflow, or configuration capacity.
  • Experience working with user portals, online communities, or similar web-based user engagement tools.
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills, including experience with Excel or similar tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience administering or supporting Technolutions Slate in a higher education environment, including multiple modules (Admissions, Student Financial Services, Advancement, etc.).
  • Experience participating in the Slate community, including the Slate Exchange, Community Forums, and Slate User Slack channels.
  • Technolutions Slate certifications (e.g., Slate Certified Professional, Slate Certified Fundamentals).
  • Experience working with multiple Slate environments such as Test, Clean Slate, Time Warp, or Learning Lab.
  • Experience with user and permissions administration within Slate.
  • Familiarity with SQL, relational databases, or data structures.
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS, particularly as applied to Slate portals, forms, and communication templates.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner or another higher education SIS/ERP.
  • Experience with reporting or analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Argos, etc.).
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and supporting enterprise-level business processes in enrollment, student financial services, advancement, or related higher education areas.
