Part-Time Permit Coordinator

Doc Watts Electric, Inc. – Central Florida

Doc Watts Electric is looking for a reliable, organized, and experienced Part-Time Permit Coordinator to assist with the permitting process for residential and commercial electrical projects throughout Central Florida.

Position Responsibilities
  • Pull and manage electrical/Generator permits with local municipalities and counties.
  • Submit permit applications and required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with customers to obtain required permit documents, signatures, property information, and other necessary paperwork.
  • Review permit requirements and ensure applications are complete before submission.
  • Schedule inspections with municipalities and coordinate inspection dates with customers and technicians.
  • Communicate directly with permitting departments, inspectors, customers, and internal staff.
  • Monitor permit status and follow up on outstanding permits, corrections, and inspection requirements.
  • Track permit applications, approvals, inspections, and final inspections.
  • Respond to permit comments or corrections and coordinate any required revisions.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical permit records.
  • Assist with Notices of Commencement and other construction-related documents.
  • Perform notary services for company documents when required.
  • Stay current with permitting requirements and procedures for Central Florida municipalities.
  • Provide general administrative support related to permitting as needed.
Qualifications
  • Current Florida Notary Public commission is required.
  • Previous experience with construction permitting preferably electrical permitting.
  • Familiarity with Central Florida municipalities and counties is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of permit applications, inspections, and construction documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable communicating with customers, contractors, permit departments, and inspectors.
  • Ability to manage multiple permits and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient with email, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and online permitting portals.
  • Experience with electrical contracting or an electrical service company is a plus.
