How much do part time renovation jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 13, 2026, the average yearly pay for part time renovation in the United States is $76,039.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $66,000.00 and $85,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What types of tasks can I expect to handle as a part-time renovation worker, and how is the workload typically managed?

As a part-time renovation worker, your daily tasks may include assisting with demolition, preparing surfaces, painting, installing fixtures, and cleaning up job sites. The workload is often project-based and can vary depending on the phase of renovation and team needs. You’ll typically work alongside experienced professionals, learning on the job and handling tasks that match your skill level. Flexible scheduling is common, but it’s important to communicate your availability clearly to ensure smooth coordination with the team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Renovation Worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Renovation Worker, you need basic construction skills, knowledge of safety protocols, and experience with hand and power tools, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with equipment such as drills, saws, and renovation materials, as well as OSHA safety certifications, is typically required. Attention to detail, reliability, and effective communication are soft skills that set candidates apart in this role. These skills ensure high-quality workmanship, safety compliance, and smooth collaboration on renovation projects.

How much do renovators make per hour?

Renovators working part-time typically earn between $15 and $30 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and the complexity of the projects. Rates can vary based on location, the scope of work, and whether they are self-employed or work for a company.

What are part time renovation jobs?

Part time renovation jobs involve working on home or commercial property updates, repairs, or improvements on a schedule that is less than full time, typically under 30 hours per week. These roles can include tasks such as painting, flooring, basic carpentry, tiling, or assisting skilled tradespeople during renovation projects. Part time renovators may work for construction companies, property management firms, or independently as contractors. The flexible hours can appeal to students, retirees, or anyone seeking supplemental income while gaining hands-on experience in the renovation field.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Part-time renovation jobs typically do not pay $4,000 a week due to their limited hours and pay rates. High-paying roles that can reach this level often require specialized skills, experience, or certifications, such as skilled trades, sales, or freelance work, which may be pursued without a formal degree. Earning this amount part-time generally involves high hourly rates or multiple jobs combined.

What is the 30% rule for renovations?

The 30% rule in renovation jobs refers to the guideline that the cost of renovations should not exceed 30% of the property's value to ensure a good return on investment. Part time renovation workers often need to consider this rule when estimating project budgets and scope to maintain profitability and avoid over-investment.

How to get into home renovation work?

To start a part-time renovation job, gain basic skills through hands-on experience or training in carpentry, painting, or drywall. Obtain relevant certifications if needed, build a portfolio, and look for entry-level positions or apprenticeships with renovation companies or contractors to develop practical skills and industry knowledge.
