POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a Girls on the Run (GOTR) Program Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to assist with developing, delivering and administering a quality GOTR program for our community. You will oversee aspects of GOTR programming such as volunteer and site management, 5k coordination and administrative support. GOTR of Central Iowa is powered by the YMCA of Greater Des Moines.

JOB LOCATION:Various sites throughout Central Iowa, home base is Walnut Creek YMCA
HOURS/DAYS SCHEDULE: 20 hours a week;Monday-Friday 1p-6p and occasional weekends
PAY RATE: $17.00-$19.00/hour
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: September 2, 2026 - Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Create, plan and deliver program opportunities for the assigned GOTR program sites.
  2. Manage budget for assigned GOTR program sites. recruit
  3. Develop and implement promotion plan to advertise program opportunities for assigned GOTR program sites.
  4. Manage and coordinate all program activities for assigned GOTR program sites.
  5. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate volunteer coaches and site liaisons.
  6. Prepare reports and rosters using computer information.
  7. Develop and implement evaluation plan to determine impact of program opportunities.
  8. Know emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them to others.
  9. Respond to questions and concerns of program participants and families.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.

Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Ability to read, write, perform simple mathematical functions.
  2. Demonstrated computer skills in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office environment
  3. Completion of high school or equivalent
  4. Two years previous work experience in program coordination or management, preferably related to youth programs.
  5. Minimum of 1 year of supervision experience and/or team leadership
  6. Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certification OR equivalent - prior to starting if hired.
  7. Child Abuse Prevention Training - prior to starting if hired and maintained annually.
  8. Additional training to be completed within the first 30 days and maintained afterwards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. This position usually works in indoor and outdoor environments, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces.
