Overview
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training.

Responsibilities
As an UGS Specialist (part-time), you will have the opportunity to do the following:
  • Provide on-call support for urgent operational requirements as needed.
  • Maintain familiarity with sensor capabilities and applications in border security operations.
  • Assist in the inventory, deployment, and maintenance of UGS systems in diverse terrains and conditions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance, including alignment, inspection, and sensor testing.
  • Provide technical assistance during UGS operations and train team members in system use and maintenance.
  • Diagnose and resolve malfunctions, replace hardware components, troubleshoot software, and verify corrections.
  • Follow established safety procedures for all maintenance and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational guidelines in all activities.
  • Maintain detailed records of deployments, maintenance, and system performance, and compile data for reports.
  • Manage accountability for system components, including hardware, software, and spare parts.
  • Maintain diagnostic and operational tools, support equipment, and test systems.
  • Collaborate with CBP offices, DHS officials, and USBP personnel to align operational objectives and ensure proper reporting.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new UGS technologies and strategies.

Qualifications
  • Active CBP BI or TOP SECRET clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
  • Associate's degree in electronics, telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent military/law enforcement training).
  • 5+ years of experience with UGS or similar technologies.
  • Technical knowledge of UGS systems, including seismic, acoustic, infrared, magnetic, and microwave sensors, and their components (e.g., power supplies, communication modules).
  • Proficiency in data collection, processing, and transmission, including wireless communication, encryption, and AI-based image recognition.
  • Skills in sensor emplacement, site selection, signal processing, anomaly detection, and data visualization tools.
  • Experience integrating UGS with other security systems and adapting to various geographical and environmental conditions.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and safety protocols governing UGS use.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in rugged, remote environments and adverse weather conditions.
  • Physical endurance for lifting, carrying, and transporting equipment over long distances.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and support extended deployments.
  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks with precision and focus
