Job Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Dean of Graduate Studies, the student will support engaging content for social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn to promote graduate programs, departmental events and achievements. The student will handle scheduling posts, monitoring interactions, and responding to comments professionally. Basic graphic design tasks will be required, using tools like Adobe Creative Suite to produce visually appealing content. The student will collaborate with faculty, staff, and student groups to gather content and support joint digital campaigns.
Responsibilities:
Under direct supervision, duties include but not limited to:
Support OGS staff in creating and managing Social Media Content
• Under the lead work direction of OGS staff, develop and post content across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, including text, pictures, and videos.
Graphic Design Tasks
• Support OGS staff in creation of visually appealing graphics and videos using Adobe Creative Suite.
• Assist with design images, video content, and layouts that enhance engagement and effectively communicate the intended message.
Assist OGS staff in Staying Updated on Social Media Trends
• Incorporate innovative strategies to keep content fresh and relevant.
Handle Scheduling, Monitoring, and Responding to Interactions
• Schedule posts to maintain a consistent presence on social media.
• Monitor interactions, engage with the audience, and respond to comments professionally.
Collaborate with Faculty, Staff, and Student Groups
• Work with various stakeholders to gather content and support digital campaigns.
• Coordinate efforts to ensure content reflects diverse perspectives and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.

Required Qualifications:
  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
  • International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Student Assistant for Digital Social Media position will be a current student at CSUSB with a strong academic record and a demonstrated interest or experience in digital marketing, social media management, or a related field. They should possess limited proficiency in various social media platforms and tools, along with basic graphic design skills and familiarity with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite. Written and verbal communication skills are essential, as well as organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. The candidate must also be capable of working collaboratively within a team.
Previous experience in a social media or marketing role, gained through coursework, internships, or prior jobs, is highly desirable for this position. The ideal candidate should be familiar with social media analytics tools and reporting to effectively track and assess campaign performance. A creative mindset coupled with a keen eye for detail is essential, as the role requires generating engaging content and ensuring that all social media output aligns with strategic goals and plans.
Compensation and Benefits:
Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 - $18.00 per hour.
The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.
Position Information:
Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal
Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm).
Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

Conditions of Employment
Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) may be required for student employment purposes. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check when required may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Driver's License Check
Possession of a valid Driver's License may be required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.
