Job description

Overview
We are seeking a highly organized Part-Time Scheduler to support workforce scheduling for a large manufacturing operation. This role will be responsible for creating and maintaining schedules for approximately 220 hourly employees across production, maintenance, and mill operations. The ideal candidate has strong Excel skills, enjoys working with large datasets, and can balance staffing needs while adhering to union seniority guidelines.
This position works closely with plant leadership and plays a critical role in ensuring proper staffing coverage across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain weekly and daily schedules for approximately 220 hourly employees.
  • Schedule production, maintenance, and mill personnel to meet operational demands.
  • Ensure schedules comply with union agreements and seniority-based scheduling requirements.
  • Monitor staffing levels, shift coverage, absences, and overtime needs.
  • Update and track schedules using Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Partner with the General Manager and operational leaders to address workforce planning needs.
  • Communicate schedule changes and staffing updates to supervisors and employees.
  • Maintain accurate scheduling records and workforce reports.

Required Qualifications
  • Previous scheduling, workforce planning, production planning, or operations coordination experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage large employee rosters and multiple shift schedules.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of union work environments and seniority-based scheduling practices.
  • Experience coordinating schedules for hourly workforce populations.
