Part-Time Position: Non-exempt position (19 hours per week) includes day, evening and weekend hours
Salary Range: $18.92-$29.71with a starting hourly wage of $18.92

Objective:
Maintains the Library, ensuring a safe, clean environment for patrons and staff.
Duties:
  • Provides consistent, gracious and friendly service to internal and external customers.
  • Performs a wide variety of custodial and maintenance tasks for the upkeep and cleaning of library building, equipment, and grounds.
  • Conducts the general cleaning of the library including dusting, vacuuming, restrooms, floors, furniture, windows and other areas.
  • Completes special cleaning projects as assigned.
  • Responds to all maintenance issues in a timely manner.
  • Interact with users in a positive and professional manner, assist and provide information and directions.
  • Maintains library grounds in all seasons.
  • Performs room set-ups.
  • Check room condition at end of use and clean up room in preparation for next group.
  • Ensures facilities and grounds are operating safely and correctly, resolves unsafe conditions. Reports unsafe conditions to supervisor or Person in Charge.
  • Assists with deliveries to the Library and to Departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum one year of experience in building maintenance and repair.
Education: Requires knowledge typically acquired through completion of high school or equivalent.
Skills:
Office & Library
  • Knowledge of standard office software including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

Communication
  • Communicates effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Speaking skills in other languages, particularly Spanish, is a plus.

Facilities Management
  • Knowledge of safety, construction and maintenance of public facilities.
  • Good working knowledge of hand tools, power equipment, electrical and plumbing methods and excellent mechanical ability.
  • Detail oriented and well organized.Supervisory Responsibility: None

Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. Physical requirements include: good speaking, hearing and vision ability, frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; excellent manual dexterity and occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and /or move and/or carry up to 50 pounds, occasionally push and pull up to 100 pounds. Position requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a typical office environment. Work is performed outdoors and in mechanical areas of the library facilities. Part-time position. May require some weekend and evening work.
