TITLE: Part-Time Library Clerk; $15 an hour.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred).
  2. Previous experience in a library, clerical, or school setting is preferred.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Basic computer skills and ability to learn library software.
  5. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  7. Passion for books and literacy, especially for young learners.
  8. Some lifting and movement of books/materials required.
  9. Periods of standing, bending, and computer work.

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB SUMMARY

The Part-Time Library Clerk supports the school library by assisting students and staff with locating materials, managing book check-in and check-out, and maintaining an organized, welcoming learning environment. This role involves clerical tasks, book processing, and helping students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PART-TIME LIBRARY CLERK

  1. Assist students and staff in finding and checking out library materials.
  2. Shelve books and maintain an organized library space.
  3. Process new books and library materials (labeling, covering, cataloging).
  4. Help students use the library catalog and other resources.
  5. Support students in selecting age-appropriate reading materials
  6. Monitor overdue books and send reminders.
  7. Assist with library programs, book fairs, and special events.
  8. Maintain an engaging and orderly library environment.
  9. Perform basic technology troubleshooting for library computers and equipment.
  10. Assist with inventory, book repairs, and weeding out old materials.
  11. Supervise students and ensure proper library conduct.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the librarian or school administration.
     

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Required to work on all days when students are in attendance for 2 hours each day.

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
