Job description

Manager of Life Sciences Support Service
City: Fort Wayne
Job Description:
Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:
We are currently seeking a full-time, on-site,Manager of Life Sciences Support Service in the Biological Science Department. This position will report to the Chair of Biological Sciences. The pay for this position is $65,115.12 annually.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Administratively (directly) supervises all full and part time laboratory support personnel employed in their area of responsibility, including work-study and other graduate student assistants (minimum of 16/semester).
  • Establish work schedules and task assignments as required.
  • Ensure that all work performed follows accepted biological laboratory and research practices and safety standards.
  • Advises department chair on overall status of laboratories, work in progress, work related problems, and recommends possible solutions or action plans.
  • Maintains and supervises all laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Responsible for the instruction of faculty and students in the use of all laboratory and computing resources to meet standards for safety and proper operation.
  • Other duties assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline.
  • 3 years' experience.
  • Biological laboratory experience including familiarity with typical methods and protocols, maintenance of scientific equipment, ordering supplies, and inventory.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of university accounting and purchasing procedures.
