Part-time Laboratory Assistant Pool
Title: Laboratory Assistant (Part-time)
Description of Hours: 10-12 hours per week. (schedule may vary based on departmental needs)
The Business, Industry and Technology division of Highland Community College periodically searches for part-time Laboratory Assistants. Though a position may not be open at this time, you are invited to complete our online application form.
Essential Job Functions:
  • The Laboratory Assistant provides instructional and operational support for community college laboratory, shop, and instructional environments.
  • This position may support a variety of academic program areas, including but not limited to Agriculture, Cosmetology, Welding, CNC/Manufacturing, and other career and technical education disciplines.
  • The Laboratory Assistant supports faculty and students by assisting with laboratory preparation, maintaining a safe learning environment, and ensuring equipment and materials are properly managed in accordance with institutional, state, and federal guidelines.

Skills:
  • Able to utilize excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen with empathy and respect, communicate clearly, and convey courtesy, patience, sincerity and a desire to help.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and faculty, characterized by cooperation, flexibility, reliability, and personal responsibility.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Educational Requirements:
  • High school diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.

Salary: $15.00 - $23.00 (Varies by program.)
