Position Summary
Pathology Laboratory Assistant – ORMC Lab Anatomical Pathology (Part-Time)

Department: ORMC Lab – Anatomical Pathology
Schedule: Part-Time | Saturday & Sunday Coverage Required
Location: Orlando Health Regional Medical Center (ORMC)

Are you interested in supporting critical pathology and laboratory operations? Join Orlando Health as a Pathology Laboratory Assistant and play an important role in assisting pathologists, managing specimens, and ensuring efficient laboratory workflow that supports quality patient care.

What You'll Do

Prepare the autopsy room and assist pathologists and residents during procedures
Receive and accession pathology specimens using hospital and laboratory information systems
Organize, inventory, file, and dispose of pathology specimens
Load tissue specimens onto tissue processors and maintain laboratory equipment
Retrieve tissue specimens, slides, and blocks for additional testing and review
Assist with frozen section processing to support timely diagnoses
Prepare cytology specimens and coordinate specimen send-outs when needed
Maintain accurate records and documentation
Support laboratory quality improvement initiatives
Practice infection prevention and safety standards while maintaining a clean work environment

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required
Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
Ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment
Commitment to quality, safety, and confidentiality
Healthcare or laboratory experience preferred but not required
