We promote and protect the rights of veterans through advocacy, public education, and partnerships with local, state, and national entities. Job Title: Weekend Day Program Monitor (Fairfax)
Location: Fairfax 420 Eddy Street, San Francisco, CA 94109
Schedule: Saturday and Sunday 8:00am - 4:00pm
Reporting Type: In-Person
Employment Type: Non-Exempt, Part-Time (16 hours)
Salary Range: $23.81 per hour
Summary:
The Program Monitor serves as the frontline representative of Swords to Plowshares property management, responsible for preparing a hot meal every morning for the Safe Haven transitional housing participants, keeping kitchen and work area clean, stocking groceries, upholding safety and security protocols. Welcoming tenants and visitors, overseeing building traffic, maintaining building security, and facilitating effective communication with residents, guests, service providers, and colleagues. As integral members of the site team, they contribute to maintaining excellent customer service standards, cleanliness, and a safe environment. Additionally, they provide round-the-clock security and promptly respond to building and tenant emergencies. Program Monitors must demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and respect towards tenants and guests while enforcing property regulations and fostering a hospitable atmosphere. This role reports to the Program Manager.
Responsibilities:
  • Culinary Skills: Required to possess cooking skills and prepare nutritious warm meals for Safe Haven transitional housing participants, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met while maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.
  • Provides courteous and professional service to residents and their guests while maintaining appropriate (professional) boundaries.
  • Screen all visitors entering the building. Inform visitors of visitor policy, check visitor ID and sign visitors in and out of the building.
  • Promotes compliance of building policies including communicating denial of entry to visitors who are determined by management to have violated the rules.
  • Keep the front desk tidy and presentable with all necessary material (pens, forms, paper etc.).
  • Assist tenants and program participants with questions, the completion of work orders, incident reports, and address complaints. Replenish and make copies of all necessary paperwork, work order, incident report, grievance form.
  • Answer all incoming calls and redirect them to the appropriate party.
  • Receive letters, packages etc., and distribute them to tenants and program participants throughout the day.
  • Complete accurate daily shift report and incident reports prior to completion of shift. Complete Shift Reports with all communications and building activity, including unusual events as well as violations of the community rules, visitor policy, and any other pertinent building/policies and procedures.
  • Maintain 86 list and inform Property Management of any updates or needed changes.
  • Perform hourly rounds throughout the building
  • Responds to emergencies by calling the appropriate emergency services (i.e., police, ambulance, fire department) and on- call staff. Act as a resource in emergency situations.
  • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and training as assigned by your supervisor, including mandatory meetings held outside of scheduled work hours.
  • Must be able to perform all tasks as assigned by management with what would be considered reasonable accommodation. Please note that responsibilities may vary by site.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English with staff, clients, and external partners and stakeholders.

  • Ability to both work independently and be a part of a team.
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Suite of programs, which includes Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to maneuver throughout the building, including stairs.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Ability to function under stressful circumstances and emergency situations.
