Job description

Job Purpose:
- The Interact Tutor position supports the Education and Leadership Foundation's (ELF) partnership with Fresno Unified School District (FUSD) to work alongside students needing additional support in ESL, STEM, mentoring, or other areas through the Interact Program. Tutors assist students with coursework, learning goals, hands-on projects, and more to foster educational success and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide academic support to students in various subjects, including ESL and STEM, to help them learn and grow according to FUSD's educational goals.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with school staff, program partners, and supervisors to align on student needs and program objectives.
- Collect and report program data accurately to track student progress and program effectiveness.
- Follow assigned duties and schedules diligently to ensure consistent support for students.
- Participate in required training sessions to stay updated on educational practices and program guidelines.
- Exercise sound judgment and work independently in a fast-paced, multitasking environment with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and, preferably, bilingual and biliterate abilities in English and Spanish to support diverse student populations.

Required Education:
- High school diploma or GED
- Interest in working in an educational or child development setting
Required Experience:
- Experience in supporting students in a learning environment
- Experience in maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
- Experience in effective communication and collaboration with staff
- Experience in collecting and reporting program data
- Experience in following assigned duties and participating in required training
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with personnel, students, and supervisors courteously and professionally
- Ability to work independently and efficiently, exercising sound judgment in a fast-paced multitasking environment with minimal supervision
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills
